Hip-Hop "Web Beef"

It seems like the newest trend in hip-hop has become the internet beef.
And quite frankly its hilarious. To see these so called tough guys jump
on their blogs and wage war against a rival mc is classic material. Not
saying that there's anything wrong with rappers blogging and keeping
their fans in touch, however when it comes to a point where a rapper IS
ON THE INTERNET calling their opponent an internet geek I can't help but
crack up. I'm witnessing more and more of this "web beef" and its
becoming a lil embarassing for me as a fan of hip-hop. A good battle is
one thing but why focus so much of your energy into it? I mean I watched
Joe Budden (probably the MOST underated mc in the game) and Ransom
literally go a track aday for about a week. I couldn't help but feel
like they were both glued to their laptop waiting for each others reply.
Then we have the Saigon vs Mobb Deep fiasco which was ridiculous enough,
but then erupted into something completly absurd when footage of the
incident got "leaked" to the internet. Someone sees it on youtube next
thing you know like Paul Wall said "you got the internet going nuts" so
Saigon replies via blog then youtube interviews insue and a whole
webstravaganza over an ugly showing by some phenomenal black artists.
There are many more of these going on and a big shout out goes to
Nahright.com, and hiphopgame.com for staying on top of their shit.
Although some might say that the very sites I am bigging up are part of
the problem their coverage for the most part comes across honest and
unbiased, and since I've had to admit that with the accessability and
possibilities of the internet these web based wars will continue to
exist I figure I might as well pay homage to the places I go to stay up
on it. As ashamed as I am to admit it I am sort of entertained
especially when a rapper I respect enters the fray, again a lil
competition is healthy its when these guys start looking like message
board lurkers that I get disgusted. I mean c'mon u make a diss record
then hit the comment board and see who thinks you won? Sounds like you
weren't too confident in the shot you threw if you ask me, and I can't
get with that. Keeping yaself informed on public opinion is one thing
but web debating your opponents fans and supporters is just corny. There
will always be those who don't see your vision. If you gon be on the net
reaching out to fans reach out to the ones who support you! One

I'm Back

Well its been months since I last blogged I was kind of boycotting, but
alas I have returned. I intend to post on a far more consistent basis
now and a large part of my blog will be dedicated to entertainment news
and things that amuse me. As I travel through this world and the music
biz I find more and more amusing and disgusting things to vent.
