The Prelude Track by Track Breakdown pt 1

I remember the first time i saw Blade Trinity, it was in the theater with my pops (pops loves that blade shit). As soon as the credits began to roll and this beat came on i was hooked, I remember saying "Yo i HAVE to find this beat or song ill loop it i dont care i need this" i began a search that resulted in nothing more than a whole lot of frustration...

Fast foward a few years, I'm working on The Prelude, i had a very very particular thing about the intro on this project. It had to feel like the beginning of something, it couldnt just be a song at the beginning of the cd. With that feeling in mind I was having a very difficult time finding a track i felt was appropriate for the task at hand. Long story short im getting aggy because i have absolutely no patience and i wanted the cd out yet I refused to release anything short of what i envisioned, im downloading beats one day and lo and behold what i see: "RZA-BLADE TRINITY" I couldnt believe my eyes, no way was it that easy! I downloaded the beat threw it on the ipod and stepped outside for a smoke, by the time i came back inside the entire first verse and first few bars of the second verse were complete. One more smoke break and the song was finished. Im pretty sure this was one of those times that i hit up analogy and booked a session as soon as i finished writing the song.

Funny thing about this track is i wrote it with the intention of having a singer do the hook (hence u hear me half singing a reference) but we couldnt get that to happen so i left it with my reference vocals on the hook.

The Breakdown Begins

OK OK OK so as everybody knows by now i really suck at keeping up with my blog.(Actually nobody knows because I've never promoted my blog, because i know I'm infrequent with the updates) Its not my fault people, my intentions are good. Regardless a few months back i promised a detailed track by track breakdown of my CD The Prelude:This is Not A Mixtape. I'm glad to say that at long last it is here!!! The first breakdown WILL be posted tonight.
For Those of you not familiar with the project and too impatient to wait and collect it track by track, you can download the CD here:

The Prelude:This is Not A Mixtape

This project really meant a lot to me personally as well as my career, it was my first "official" release so to speak although i wouldn't DARE call it a debut hence the title "The Prelude"! I started out just wanted to prove to the world that i could spit! Then it grew into me wanting the world to see things how i see them so to speak. This project was kinda like a trailer for the main attraction. I feel that this gives people a great feel for me as an MC and leaves a lot of room for curiosity as i intentionally didn't include certain topics and song types. ( I Love when they tell me shit like i cant make music for the girls, not knowing whats sitting in the stash) Shout out to my man Analogy for doing everything that needed to be done to make this project a success as well as everybody who participated in the creation, and cultivation of this CD. I hope you enjoy and listen with an open mind, and check back for the track by track breakdown, there are some interesting stories behind these songs TRUST ME.

For the record, and I'm not taking any shots at anyone but this CD was released a year ago, and at the time i hadn't heard not 1 prelude, or any titles similar to my choosing. However since then I've seen several preludes and several mixtapes that "weren't mixtapes"! I'm far from egotistical enough to imply that these people are biting my shit, but i have absolutely no problem pointing out yet another example of me being a little ahead of the curve (time to get my shit out so the public can notice too)!

Tru Life Facing 1st Degree Murder Charges

Whenever i think about Tru Life i think about a dude with a ton of unfulfilled potential. Unlike a lot of people i like Tru as an mc, and i felt with the right marketing he could probably do big things. However long before this latest run in with the law he has always had a problem leaving the streets behind him. Last night Tru turned himself in to the NYPD and is facing possible 1st degree murder charges. Hold ya head Tru

AZ - Refuse 2 Die

Im not doing this blog thing to be mr exclusive or anything like that. All i want to do is express myself and show support to the artists that have an influence on my career. With that being said nahright posted this new AZ song a few days ago. Sosa is and always has been one of my favorite mcs and someone who i feel is underrated in the rap game. This song is a banger and has given me something to look foward to with the eminent release of his next project.

Enjoy
